She was engrossed in reading the book when suddenly Annab opened the door with a bang and entered. Zarnab glanced at it and turned her attention back to the book.
“Get up from here” Annab ordered her as she approached the table. Taking a long breath, Zarnab closed the book and took off her glasses and placed them on the book and looked at her with a full look where the anger was clearly visible. She had left the chair and got up. As soon as she got up, she sat down.
“That chair was just like that” Anab turned the chair and wanted to attract Zarnab who was now walking on the couch with a laptop. She looked at her uncomprehendingly.
“Yes, it was exactly the same, the same wheels, the same arms, and made of the same stuff,” she spoke again, examining the chair, but this time Zarnab did not answer.
Today you went to get an application signed by the university HOD, is your work done?” asked Zarnab, looking at her face from behind the laptop screen, who was trying to see something with her glasses on her face.
I went to the HOD office today and there was no one. My eyes fell directly on her chair, it was just like this chair” Zarnab looked at her with disbelief.
“Then the chair…. Why is the chair stuck in your mind?” Zarnab spoke angrily.
“I was scared and sat on her chair. I sat for two minutes. I felt like I was in a different world. If I wasn’t afraid that she would come and scold me, I would have been sitting under the AC.” Anab put her arms on the table. She said while resting her head on it.
This is the same chair too, but sitting on it, why doesn’t it feel the same as it was then, even the speed of the heart beat is not increasing” Anab said sadly.
“Because it’s a small chair and that was an official’s chair” Zarnab moved towards the book rack beside the laptop and started looking for the book she wanted.
“This chair and her chair may be the same, the stuff may be the same, the price may also be the same, but still, there is a big difference between them” Anab said thoughtfully.
“A chair is an inanimate thing, of course it has a price, but it is not valuable, but the person sitting on it can be valuable,” Zarnab said while turning the page of the book.
“You know I waited her for half an hour. After half an hour when she came, she scolded me and kicked me out of the room and told me to submit my application to her assistant and take it tomorrow. I said that today is the last date still she asked me to wait while she was completely free and a man was coming and going with food and I stood outside waiting for her and after a while she left the room with her bag and left with one look at me” there was surprise in her tone.
“Does it mean that if you get a big position, start looking down on others?” There was once again anger in Anab’s tone.
“You know our teachers also talk a lot about HOD” Zarnab came to her and gave her water.
“I know and when they come in front they exchange smiles as if they are good friends” she smiled at Anab’s words.
“Because they respect her not because of her personality but because of her position.”
“Yes, you are right, people salute after seeing the rank.”
“Tomorrow if this HOD changes and one of our teachers comes to this post then the previous HOD will be forced to give respect to her” Big position demands respect” my dear friend” She had picked up the book from the table and returned to her place.
“You said earlier that a person sitting on a chair can be valuable?” So, does the chair make them valuable?” Anab was stuck in the chair itself.
“You are getting confused”. The chair doesn’t make them valuable, the good morals hidden in their personality make them valuable” moving quickly on his palm.
“Like that?”
“Like our Vice Chancellor”
“What the university was and what she has made it just because she has earned the right to sit on the chair.”
“When we can’t pay the right to something, how sad and restless the heart is, isn’t it?” Anab was depressed.
Annab, those people are very dear, valuable and occupy a high level who understand the rights and take care of them, in which the rights of Allah’s servants and the rights of parents are prominent.” Zarnab smiled and Annab nodded her head.
“Zarnab, if the chair is missed, do people even stop respecting?” On Anab’s words, she took a long breath and dropped the laptop screen.
“If the VC comes in front of you after five years, will you turn away from her?” She asked question after question.
“Of course not I will greet her and meanwhile my heart will beat faster, a smile will dance on my lips and my heart will want to talk to her more” All the while she was smiling.
“Just like five fingers are not equal, like five siblings are not the same despite having the same training, similarly people are not the same even after getting a high rank, some people become gentler and some people become hard-hearted. That instead of bringing change, they just enjoy the chair.”
“When people like VC get up from the chair, they take their honor with them and those who only enjoy the chair leave their honor and peace on that chair. Therefore, when you will meet her after a few years, you will have respect for her in your eyes.
“Let me feed you a good meal” Zarnab had taken her hand and walked outside. If she had not told her, it would have been very difficult to get this chair out of her mind. Their voices could now be heard from far away.
“When we hold a position, we are sworn to be faithful to our profession, but when we become travelers on these roads, we forget what our responsibility was. We have to leave our “comfort zone”. If we have to leave, it seems to be a painful task. With all these, we also forget that we will be saved from the eyes of the world, but we cannot escape from the eyes of Allah. When you remember that Allah is watching, turn back to Him and be sincere with Him and with the profession He has blessed. People will respect you if you do what you deserve. If found later, they will give you respect if you have earned that respect and you have to die to earn respect and position. “
